Value proposition validation
What you'll learn
1. How to ensure your value proposition resonates with your target audience
2. An understanding of if you're communicating the value of your product or service in a way that customers care about
3. How to test your messaging on landing pages, ads, or other content to see how your target audience responds
4. How to uncover unique value propositions you hadn’t considered
For a product, service, or website to be effective, it needs to provide real value. First, you must have a thorough understanding of the value audiences derive from your product or service.
This template’s questions help you understand whether your offer is compelling and evaluate potential improvements to your framing based on customer feedback.
If you’re following the Design Thinking Process, plan for value proposition validation in the ideate stage, after assessing buyer personas and before the prototype stage. If you’re following the Agile Process, you’ll study value proposition validation among the later steps, in the testing stage.
To prepare, you’ll need a live link featuring the offer you want to evaluate.
Hear from our customers
Pet insurance company Everypaw saw a need to boost their market share and keep up with competitors. What was at stake? Budget capacity for the next several years. Leveraging A/B studies, they narrowed down their target audience in UserTesting’s Contributor Network and solicited feedback for their 30-second ad, consisting of background music, various value propositions, and an ending screen. Looking for validation on their messaging, Everypaw was pleasantly surprised at contributors’ positive reactions, and laughs. Additionally, some of the feedback even settled internal debates. Thanks to UserTesting, Everypaw saw an 85% increase in engagement compared to the previous year and an increased market share.
